Theoretical and applied studies related to the above topics are also published in the Journal of Geological Engineering.

We only accept previously unpublished work. Four types of paper are published in the Journal of Geological Engineering:
1- Research Articles: Articles in which an original study is presented. The theoretical basis should include sections in which findings and conclusions based on sufficient quantitative and qualitative data are evaluated in detail. The total length of the manuscript should not exceed 9000 words (15 JMD pages). Articles will be subject to review by at least two experts in the field.
2- Reviews: Articles prepared upon the invitation of the Editor or with their knowledge, examining the techniques, methods and approaches still used in any field of Geological Engineering in light of today's technological developments and the writer’s own experiences. The article should also make and develop suggestions in this regard. The length of the article may vary depending on the subject. There is no obligation of editorial review.
3- Technical Notes: A technical note article presents a technique, instrumentation, exploration method, or an assessment method that is truly new compared to earlier publications. An evaluation or measurement method should specify how it was validated. A technical note should be no longer than 4000 words (6 JMD pages). Articles will be subjected to review by at least two members of the editorial board.
4- Erratum: A notice to correct errors in a published article that were mistakenly created by the authors or editorial board during the final editing of the article. JMD may be warned of errors by the authors or readers of the published article. If the authors have alerted the editorial board, an erratum is published as soon as possible. If a reader has alerted the editorial board, the author will be contacted to see if a typo report is appropriate. Readers can contact the Editor. If a Letter to the Editor has been received and a spelling correction is required, the authors of the original article are requested to respond and write a correction to the published Letter to the Editor.

Both Turkish and English manuscripts are accepted by the Journal of Geological Engineering. According to the language chosen in the article; following the title, abstract, figure, and table captions, the equivalents in other languages should also be written. Editors provide the necessary assistance in translating the Title, Abstract, Figure, and Table captions into Turkish for the manuscripts prepared in English by the foreign author(s) (in case they cannot get the relevant Turkish language assistance before their submission). Authors whose native language is not English are strongly advised to seek support from a native English speaker in terms of grammar and style of the manuscript before submission.

Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract, a published lecture, or an academic thesis) and that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Turkish references can also be given directly in Turkish. For such references please use Turkish characters.

Equations
Please submit mathematical symbols and formulae as editable text and not as images. Use the equation editor or MathType for equations. Equation numbers should appear in parentheses at the right-hand side of the equations and be numbered consecutively. For Greek or other non-Roman letters, identify the symbol in words in the left-hand margin just below the equation the first time it is used. In addition, the meaning of symbols used in equations should be given below the equations. In principle, variables are to be presented in italics. Powers of “e” should be denoted by “(exp)”. Subscripts and superscripts should be given clearly and written in smaller characters (e.g. Id, x2). Instead of a square-root symbol, indices of 0.5 should be used (i.e., σcmass= σc0.5). For the multiplication sign do not use any symbol, however, if necessary, the symbol “*’’ can be preferred (i.e., y=5*10-3). Please use “/’’ for division instead of a horizontal line between the numerator and denominator. In the expression of chemical reactions, ions should be given as Ca2+ and CO32- instead of Ca++ and CO3--. In the text, equations should be referred to as equations (1, 2, etc.).

TABLE and FIGURES

Tables and figures should be embedded in the text, with their captions. For tables and figures, use Times New Roman, font size 10. Under the Paragraph tab, ensure that the indentation is as follows; before and after 0 nk and spacing single. Tables and figures should be left aligned, and the text wrapping feature should be turned off. Tables and figures should be arranged to fit in a single (7.5 cm-width) or double (16 cm-width) column of the Journal.

Tables
Tables with their captions should not exceed the printed area of the page (16 x 22 cm) and be numbered consecutively. Both Turkish and English captions should appear at the top of a table (do not print table captions on a separate sheet). If the manuscript is written in Turkish, the English title in italics should follow the Turkish title. For manuscripts in English, a Turkish title should appear below the English title in italics. They should begin with “Table 1.” etc. Tables should be referred to as Table 1 or Tables 1 and 2 (if more than one table is referred to). Tables can be written in a font size smaller than that of the text (9 or 10 points). Tables should be arranged to fit a single column (7.5 cm wide) or a double column (16 cm wide). No vertical rules should be used. Horizontal rules should only be used at the top and bottom of the tables, and to separate headings and numbers listed in the tables (Please check the previous issues of the Journal). Tables should not duplicate results presented elsewhere in the manuscript (e.g. in graphs). Place any table notes below the table body.

Figures
All figures such as drawings, graphics, and photographs should be given in high-quality printed form under the title of "Figure" and numbered in the order in which they are mentioned in the text. The rules suggested below should be taken into account in drawing, graphic and photographic formats.
Regardless of the application used, when your electronic artwork is finalized, please 'save as' or convert the images to one of the following formats (note the resolution requirements for line drawings, halftones, and line/halftone combinations given below):
EPS (or PDF): Vector drawings. Embed the font or save the text as 'graphics'.
TIFF (or JPG): Color or grayscale photographs (halftones): always use a minimum of 300 dpi. TIFF (or JPG): Bitmapped line drawings: use a minimum of 1000 dpi.
TIFF (or JPG): Combinations bitmapped line/half-tone (color or grayscale): a minimum of 500 dpi is required.

Figure captions should be written under the figures, and figure captions should be prepared in both Turkish and English, similar to the format stated above for tables. The largest size for figures should be 16 cm (width) x 22 cm (length), including the figure title. In particular, maps, drawings, and photographs related to the area should not be used with a numerical scale (1:25000, etc.), and should be given in a linear scale suitable for the metric system. A north arrow should be shown on maps. Regional maps may include National Grid or latitude/longitude numbers where appropriate. Map legend should be given on the figure, not in the figure caption. Photographs, line drawings, or combinations may be grouped as figure parts (a), (b), etc. It is preferred that these are mounted.
